OUR MISSION
The mission of this program is to provide other opportunities in a creative environment for instrumental students through jazz instruction. The methods that are employed to help enrich the students will be improvisation, creative literature, masterclasses, workshops, and performances with nationally acclaimed musicians. The musical and leadership skills gained can then be shared with their own school programs. These groups will rehearse weekly and perform 2-3 times per academic year.
BRIEF PROGRAM HISTORY
The Missoula All-City Jazz Program was founded in 2017 to provide an opportunity for local high school musicians to work on improvisation skills in a Small Group setting separate from their existing band programs. The organization, which annually has 25-35 student musicians, is now providing an educational experience to both high school & middle school students throughout the Missoula community with performances at Missoula on Main (formerly First Night Missoula), Jazzoula, The UM Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival and other community events.
The All-City season begins in November and runs through May.
*Priority Registration Deadline: Sept. 26, 2025
All-City Jazz is fiscally sponsored by Arts Missoula
